(The ABC’s of Christian Living)
Scripture Reading: Romans 12
“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good” (Rom. 12:21).
I. A-lways Denounce Sin
“Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good” (Rom. 12:9).
A. Abhor (shrink from, detest) that which is evil. Resist the devil and he will flee (James 4:7).
B. The Christian is to denounce sin everywhere—at work, at play, at home watching TV. Denounce violence, lust (2 Cor. 6:17).
C. Cleave to that which is good. Be so busy doing good and being good that there is no time for evil (James 4:8).
II. B-e Dependable in Serving
“Fervent in spirit; serving the Lord” (Rom. 12:11).
A. Serve with your time. Take time to call, witness, and win the lost to Jesus Christ (Ps. 90:12).
B. Serve with your talent. Everyone can do something for God. Give a kind word, a smile, a helping hand (2 Cor. 6:1).
C. Serve with your treasure. Money is needed to meet church obligations. Money given to God’s work is saved (Matt. 6:19–21).
III. C-ontinue Dedication of Self
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice …” (Rom. 12:1).
A. Read God’s Word. It is a guide, a chart, to show us where to go and what to do (Ps. 119:11).
B. Pray. Be always in the spirit of prayer. We are privileged to commune and fellowship with God (Luke 18:1).
C. Surrender all to God. Live with a yielded-to-God attitude (1 Cor. 6:19–20).
